(26 January) A Bill going through the Florida legislative process will require all timeshare resellers to disclose the buyers name & address to a selling owner. The Bill is designed to stop the rampant resale fraud sweeping the USA.
(25 January) A new timeshare website is launched selling only in top quality European timeshare resorts.
(6 January) Macdonald Resorts Ltd accounts for the 18 months to 31 March 2011 disclose a loss of £437k .
(5 January) The European timeshare trade body, RDO, move from their office from Brussels to London. They state that they do not have the ability to receive visitors at their new address.

(30 November) ARDA, the US timeshare trade body, and RDO, the European timeshare trade body, agree to joint co-operation in areas of mutual interest.
(29 November) Fairways Club, Tenerife, change their Constitution to allow executors or beneficiaries of a deceased owner to freely relinquish ownership.
(24 November) The Department for Business, “BIS”, has issued a petition to close down seven companies in the “Club Class” group including those registered in the Seychelles. The court hearing is unlikely to be until after Christmas.
(17 November) ARDA, the US timeshare trade body, spent nearly $1 million last year on lobbying the US Government on behalf of timeshare operators.

(29 September) Following the instigation of legal proceedings (on 17 March 2011) by the European Commission against 14 EU members who had failed to implement the new Timeshare Directive on time 10 of those members have now implemented. But the other four – Spain, Poland, Slovenia and Lithuania - have failed to implement resulting in the European Commission stepping up legal action against these countries. Details

(29 June) Marriott International Inc. announce plans to hive off it’s timeshare activities into a stand alone company, Marriott Vacation Worldwide Corp., to form the worlds largest independent timeshare business.
(10 June) The Cabinet of the Spanish Parliament approves the draft of the new Spanish law to implement the Timeshare Directive 2010. There is no indication when this law will be put before Parliament.

(10 May) A group of timeshare fraudsters in Spain, accused of stealing three million Euro from 300 victims, admit to the fraud but make an agreement to avoid going to prison. Details

(30 March) Club la Costa announce a strategic shift in their operations with the strengthening of their management team to concentrate on accommodation rental.
(16 March) A defending group has claims by Kings Ransom, in respect of unpaid fees for Clube Praia d’Oura, struck out. The Manchester court ordered Kings Ransom to pay the defendants costs.
(4 March) Debt collectors , Daniels Silverman, issue a large number of demands for payment against Diamond Resorts owners who have not paid their annual fees. More information
